Re:  $650 million vote set on Delta tunnels project: Are taxpayers protected?

"whether the district, which is based in San Jose and provides water to 2 million Santa Clara County residents, can leave the partnership without being on the hook for the entire $650 million that the board will consider approving Tuesday. A clause in the document, called a “Draft Joint Powers Agreement,” says that any member agency can leave after giving 60 days notice but will be “held to its financial obligations” that were “incurred while a member,”








This is a big red herring. If the board votes to open the SSC taxpayers to this liability, we should be suing and then voting them out of office. They supported the will of their ratepayers in the last vote. Let's hope they will continue to do so.
