Climate Theory

Just our opinion, but we think these students would be better off trying to improve their reading and math scores instead of ditching school.

Mar 17, 2019

At first they thought the world would have mass starvation because of the growing population (The Population Bomb), then it was the global cooling consensus, then global warming, then climate change, and now we have 12-years to limit the catastrophe of carbon in the atmosphere.

As we were reviewing some California public school test scores, which are not very good by the way, we ran across these headlines:

L.A. Times:  'We are never going to get our planet back': L.A. students join global climate change protests

KQED:  Bay Area Students Say They're Not Gonna Take It Anymore When it Comes to Climate Change

S.F. Chronicle:  Thousands of Bay Area students protest in San Francisco against climate change inaction

Sacramento Bee:  Hundreds of California students rally at Capitol in global youth ‘climate strike’

Just our opinion, but we think these students would be better off trying to improve their reading and math scores instead of ditching school.

If they had gone to school they might have learned the devastating California wildfires were more about bureaucratic forest mismanagement than about climate change.  Well, maybe not.

If they had gone to school they might have learned bureaucratic mismanagement of our water is more of a problem for Californians than is drought.  Well, maybe not.

And we wonder how difficult it is to talk a teenager into ditching school.  Especially when you tell them they are saving the planet.

But when it comes to climate change theory, we don't mind all these theories until they demand we change our entire economic system to deal with it.  The problem with the theory is that it is based on the climate getting warmer as the amount of carbon in the atmosphere gets higher.  Remember, there is only 4/100ths of 1% of carbon in the atmosphere.  The atmosphere is 99 and 96/100ths other stuff like nitrogen (78%) and oxygen (21%).

When you build your scientific models on the basis of getting warmer when there is more carbon, of course the models say it will get warmer when there is more carbon.  It's a self-fulfilling prophesy.  The models do what the creators of the models tell them to do.  The fact that the predictions of these models have been wildly wrong doesn't seem to be noticed by these students or the media.
